Once again we would like to reiterate the importance of communicating with your provider/IT people.  We recently had a customer come to us wanting to expand on their VoIP and Internet services with us (yeah for them and us).    After completing the upgrade, the customer called to inform us that there was a major problem,  Internet, phones, Outlook, Quick Books and another program were not working correctly.

What the customer neglected to share with us was that not only were they upgrading the Internet and VoIP service with us, but they were also changing to another operating system and conducting additional office changes, all at once.

Do we see a possible issue emerging?

You can take big boy steps, however we suggest that when you make changes in your office, that the changes take place  in quantitative controlled steps.  Allowing for precise monitoring of your overall systems, thus isolating any issue with the change, versus “we have problems and they must have been caused by you!”

The customer was informed to reboot their modem and phones and the upgrade will take place.  The customer also loaded a new operating system that conflicted with Outlook, Quick Books and the other program, but since they did all this at one time there was no way to isolate an exact cause.

Remember, the more tech that you add to make your life easier, the greater the possibility of having conflicting software.
